Sound familiar?

Perhaps you're here because…

Body hair is completely natural. Whether to do anything about it is entirely your choice.

Ask Natalia a question (opens in a new tab)
  1. Shaving, waxing and tweezing — on repeat

Temporary methods need constant repeating, and you'd like to know whether there's a longer-term option.

  2. Blonde, grey, white or red hairs

Laser relies on pigment, so very light and grey hairs often don't respond well. Electrolysis doesn't depend on hair colour.

  3. Hairs left after laser

A course of laser can leave behind individual light or fine hairs. Electrolysis can be used to treat them.

  4. Not sure which method to choose

There's a lot of information out there, and much of it is contradictory. Natalia can help you work out what makes sense for you.

  5. It feels awkward to ask

It's a very common question. You can message on Direct in your own time, at your own pace — no judgement.

How it works

Electrolysis, step by step

Each hair is treated individually: an ultra-fine probe is placed into the natural opening of the follicle, and a small electrical current is applied to the area the hair grows from. The treated hair is then removed.

  1. Message Natalia

Tell her on Instagram Direct what's on your mind and ask anything you like.

  2. Talk through your situation

The area, your hair type, previous hair removal, your skin and your health all shape the approach.

  3. Follicle-by-follicle treatment

Each follicle is treated individually, which makes the method particularly suited to smaller, well-defined areas.

  4. Aftercare and next steps

You'll receive guidance on preparation and skincare, and discuss whether further sessions are needed.

A course of appointments is usually needed: hair grows in cycles, and not every follicle is active at the same time. The number of sessions depends on the area, hair density and individual factors, so it can't be predicted precisely in advance.

Electrolysis or laser

Two methods, different strengths

Laser can be useful for reducing hair growth over larger areas. Electrolysis has its own strengths — above all, permanent results and the ability to treat hair of any colour.

Long-term results

Electrolysis

Advantage of electrolysis: Recognised as the only method of hair removal that is PERMANENT.

A successfully treated follicle no longer produces hair. Results come from a course of treatment: some follicles may need treating more than once, and new growth can be influenced by hormones and individual factors. A single session does not remove every hair for good.

Laser

Generally described as permanent hair reduction. A course of sessions is needed, and maintenance may be required over time; results vary.

Hair colour

Electrolysis

Advantage of electrolysis: Can treat hairs of different colours, including blonde, white, grey and red.

Laser

Generally works best on suitably pigmented hair. Very light and grey hair is often difficult to treat or unsuitable.

Skin tone

Electrolysis

Advantage of electrolysis: Can be performed across skin tones when appropriately carried out.

Laser

Suitability depends on the laser technology, skin tone, hair colour and individual circumstances.

Treatment area

Electrolysis

Advantage of electrolysis: Allows precise treatment of individual hairs and defined areas.

Laser

Can be efficient for reducing hair growth across larger areas.

How it works

Electrolysis

Each hair follicle is treated individually using a small electrical current.

Laser

Light energy targets the pigment in suitable hair follicles.

After laser

Electrolysis

Advantage of electrolysis: May be considered for hairs remaining after a course of laser, depending on your situation.

Laser

Individual hairs can remain after a course — for example light or fine hairs that laser affects less.

No single method suits everyone, and not everyone who has had laser will need electrolysis. Electrolysis takes time, sensations during treatment vary, and temporary redness afterwards is possible.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Ask Natalia a question (opens in a new tab)
What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a hair removal method in which a fine probe is inserted into the natural opening of a hair follicle and a small electrical current is applied to the area the hair grows from. Each hair is treated individually. Electrolysis is recognised as a method of permanent hair removal.

Is electrolysis suitable for blonde, white, grey and red hair?

Yes. Unlike laser, electrolysis doesn't rely on hair pigment, so it can be used on hair of any colour. Whether it's right for you is best discussed with Natalia.

Is electrolysis painful?

Sensations vary from person to person — most often they're described as a brief stinging or warmth. Sensitivity depends on the area, your own tolerance and how you're feeling that day. It isn't painless, but you can talk about comfort with Natalia beforehand.

How many sessions might I need?

It isn't possible to give an exact number in advance. It depends on the area, the density and type of hair, growth cycles, hormonal factors and which methods you've used before. A course of sessions is usually needed.

What can my skin look like after treatment?

Straight after treatment you may notice redness and slight swelling, and sometimes tiny scabs. This is usually temporary and settles on its own. If anything concerns you, message Natalia.

How should I prepare for my first session?

Avoid tweezing or waxing the area beforehand — the hairs need to be visible. Avoid tanning and irritating the skin. Please tell Natalia about your health, any medication, pregnancy, implanted devices (such as a pacemaker) and any skin conditions. Natalia will give you specific guidance before your first session.

What aftercare is recommended?

For the first 24–48 hours it's usually recommended not to touch the treated area, to avoid make-up and fragranced products, saunas, hot baths, swimming pools, intense exercise and sun exposure, to use SPF and not to pick any scabs. Natalia will give you personal aftercare advice after treatment.

Can electrolysis be considered after laser treatment?

Yes. Electrolysis is often considered for hairs that remain after laser — for example light or fine hairs. Let Natalia know which treatments you've had and when.

How much does treatment cost?

The standard price is £55 per hour. For the first 10 new clients using code ELECTRO, it's £35 per hour. This is the price per hour of treatment, not for a full course — the overall cost depends on the area and the number of sessions.
